Thirty years ago, Nelson Simon accepted an invitation to help sail a ship from Brooklyn to Bermuda, despite having little sailing experience. The ship ended up in what would later become known as the “Perfect Storm.” The crew managed to hold out long enough to be rescued by the US Coast Guard.
