Intern
Collections and Curatorial Intern
Effective Date: Per Semester.
Duration: Flexible to the needs of the intern.
Hours: Anytime between 11am and 4pm, Tuesday through Sunday.
Preferred days: Tuesdays and Fridays.
Availability on one weekend day a plus, but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Below is a list and description of duties for the internship. This summary is not intended to be exhaustive and other duties may be assigned as needed.

Under the supervision of the Curatorial Team, the Collections and Curatorial Intern will assist with managing collections, preparing exhibitions, researching records, initiating public engagement, assisting with administrative tasks and operating museum events.

Collections Management:
Assist with the cataloging, documentation and inventory of objects and archives. Help maintain accurate records on database, PastPerfect.

Exhibit Preparation:
Aid in the planning and installation of exhibitions. Assist in the preparation of display materials, such as labels and educational content.

Research:
Conduct research on objects and themes related to the National Lighthouse Museum scope of collections.

Public Engagement:
Contribute to museum outreach and engagement with the community. Conduct guided tours, oversee museum admissions and operate gift shop as needed. Assist with special events as needed.

Administrative Tasks:
Support the Curatorial team with administrative duties, such as correspondence and scheduling.

Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an academic program. Preferably pursuing a degree in museum studies, public history, or a related field.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent research and writing skills.
Basic educational background of collections management practices and museum operations.
Familiarity with museum databases and computer platforms is a plus.

Compensation: Unpaid.

Credit depends on the requirements of the intern’s academic program.
