MUSEUM DIRECTIONS

FROM THE STATEN ISLAND FERRY

The National Lighthouse Museum is a short (3-5 minute) walk from the Staten Island Ferry terminal.

Once the ferry docks in St. George, exit the lowest level of the ferry. Walk towards the parking lot and the terminal’s entrance doors. Turn left before the entrance doors and follow tall, blue signs marked “Bay Street Landing.” You’ll walk under two overpasses with a high stone wall to your left and a security fence to your right.

The Staten Island Ferry is always FREE and leaves from Manhattan from South Ferry/ Whitehall to the St. George Terminal on Staten Island. The 25-minute voyage takes passengers across scenic New York harbor passing by the Statue of Liberty, Governors Island, and offering a breathtaking view of the skyline of lower Manhattan. For more information visit Staten Island Ferry Schedule.

BY CAR

Do not enter the Museum’s address in a GPS! It will take you to the other side of Staten Island. Enter “1 Bay Street” or “National Lighthouse Museum.”

Drive towards the St. George Ferry Terminal Maintenance Building at 1 Bay Street. As you pass the St. George Post Office you will see a green plywood construction fence, stay to the right. When the fence ends at the intersection for the ferry, look for a blue sign for the Maintenance Building. Drive down that driveway (even if it says “Do No Enter / Authorized Vehicles Only”) and make a sharp RIGHT turn at the security booth.

PARKING

A number of parking options are available to visitors to the National Lighthouse Museum.

The Staten Island Ferry terminal muni-metered parking lots are closest to the museum. Visitors can pay by credit card or with coins. The Empire Outlets parking garage costs $5 for up to 5 hours. Private lots to the north of the terminal can be used at a flat fee of $7.00 per day. Please note that overnight parking is not permitted in any of these lots.

Two-hour metered parking is available on Bay Street.
