SUMMARY:The History of the Eddystone Lighthouse with Wayne Wheeler
DESCRIPTION:The History of the Eddystone Lighthouse with Wayne Wheeler\, accomplished lecturer on lighthouses\, lightships and aids to navigation.\nSunday\, July 24 • 2:00pm \nWayne will be talking about the history of the most iconic of England’s lighthouses. The Eddystone lighthouse\, first erected in the late 1600s\, was the first lighthouse in the world to be constructed on an ocean reef. \nIt was built before the time of mechanized vessels and power tools\, 26 miles south of Plymouth\, England. The first structure was replaced by a larger one after a year. That structure would be replaced three more times. \nWayne Wheeler is the founder and President emeritus of the U.S. Lighthouse Society and an expert on lighthouses\, lightships and aids to navigation. He served in aids to navigation areas of the Coast Guard as an officer and civilian for 23 years. \nPURCHASE TICKETS
