SUMMARY:Paintings by Alfred La Banca Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Lighthouses of the United States\nPaintings by Alfred La Banca Exhibit \nApril 28-May 26\, 2024\nOpening Reception April 28th at 2pm \nAlfred La Banca was born in New York City in 1930. His family spent summers in New Dorp\, Staten Island\, and so began his love for coastal communities. He owned three IOR-rated sailboats and competed from Maine to Florida – including Newport\, Annapolis\, Fort Lauderdale and Key West. \nLighthouses were his passion. He called them the “Vanishing Castles of America”. Sadly\, these beautiful marine castles are disappearing\, often abandoned or destroyed. It was the hope of Alfred LaBanca to rekindle America’s passion with lighthouses through his beautiful watercolor paintings. \nHis work has been selected for Ritz Carlton Hotels\, York Wallpaper and many local art shows. \nHe was a member of the United States Airforce\, New York Yacht Club\, New York Athletic Club Yacht Club\, Corinthians\, Storm Trysail Club and the Noroton Yacht Club. \nThe La Banca Lighthouse Collection has over 250 paintings. We hope you enjoy viewing this wonderful collection and perhaps think of Al LaBanca when you see a lighthouse.

SUMMARY:The Lighthouse Keeper’s Daughter Author Talk & Book Signing
DESCRIPTION:Born in 1842\, Ida Lewis assumed the keeping of Lime Rock Light in Newport\, RI at the tender age of 15. Set against the backdrop of a country in turmoil and progress\, including the Civil War and the Women’s Suffrage Movement\, Ida’s seemingly unexceptional life took a drastic turn when the world discovered that she’d been silently saving the lives of countless sailors. \nFame took her in hand and\, overnight\, she became an international sensation. Something she neither wanted nor got accustomed to. THE LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER’S DAUGHTER was originally published under the title KEEPER OF LIME ROCK two decades ago. \nIt has been in continuous publication ever since and is currently under the imprint of Rowman & Littlefield. Filmmaker Nico Raineau has adapted a screenplay based on Skomal’s book\, to be produced as a major motion picture. \nPURCHASE TICKETS
